This article will guide you through the recommended way to create your first course in 4 simple steps.

Step 1: Add a Product (optional)↑ Back to Top

If you’re not selling your course, you can skip this step.

The first thing you’ll need to do, if you plan to sell your course, is create a new Product (you must have WooCommerce installed and activated in order to do this.)

Step 2: Add a new Course↑ Back to Top

The next step is to add a course. This will be the container for all of your lessons.

If you’re selling the course, make sure to select the product you created in step 1, under “WooCommerce Product.”

Step 3: Add Modules (optional)↑ Back to Top

If your course will contain a lot of lessons, it may be useful to divide them up into modules, so you could have, say, 10 modules with 5 lessons in each, rather than just a long list of 50 lessons.

Add as many modules as you need, and make sure to assign them all to the course you created in step 2.

Step 4a: Add Lessons↑ Back to Top

Now you can create your lessons, which will contain your main learning content.

Step 4b: Add Quizzes (optional)

If you want to assess your learners’ progress, you can optionally add a quiz to any of your lessons. The easiest way to do this is while adding a lesson, you can simply add questions directly to that lesson to create a quiz*.

Add as many lessons (and quizzes) as you need, and if you’re using modules, make sure to assign each lesson to one of the modules you created in step 3.

That’s it! Once you’ve added all of your lessons your course is ready for learners to start taking it.

*An alternative way is to add all of your questions before creating your lessons, and then select which questions to add to each lesson, or create a quiz from a random selection of questions from any question category. See Question Bank for more details on this.
