Note: Sensei is unable to protect video content. If you need to ensure that only paying customers can watch videos, we recommend using a service such as Vimeo PRO

Note: We don’t recommend adding a lesson to a course that is already live with active learners. See this page for more details.

Setting a Lesson Prerequisite↑ Back to Top

If you want learners to complete each lesson before they progress to the next, you can select a Lesson Prerequisite:

    lesson-prerequisite

If learners visit this lesson before completing the prerequisite lesson, they will see a message like this:

Enabling Lesson Preview↑ Back to Top

From v1.6, when editing a lesson, you can enable the Lesson Preview option:

    lesson-preview

This allows the lesson content to be viewed by anyone, without having purchased or registered, giving you a way to offer a free sample of your course content.

If your course contains preview lessons, it displays a message as shown in the course archive page:

    course-preview

The course page itself also indicates which lessons can be previewed:

    course-lesson-preview

Note: If the course is not a paid course, it say Preview instead of Free Preview

And the lesson page also displays a message with a link to sign up for/purchase the course:

    lesson-preview-message

If you are logged in as admin, or already taking the course, you won’t see the preview messages. They are only shown to users who are not currently taking the course.

Adding Lesson Tags↑ Back to Top

From v1.5, you can assign tags to lessons in the same way as you can with regular posts.

If you want lessons to be searchable by tag, you need to use a search plugin such as Search Everything or Search WP.

Adding a Quiz to your Lesson↑ Back to Top

See Adding Quizzes for information on adding a quiz to a lesson.

If you don’t add a quiz to a lesson, the lesson automatically displays the “Complete Lesson” button, allowing learners to mark the lesson complete without taking a quiz
